Classroom visit with 2017 Suwannee County Teacher of the Year, Melva Batts
Walking into Melva Batt’s classroom at Suwannee Middle School, I saw students engaged in team discussions and frantically writing their answers to the $500 Jeopardy question on the board. Sighs of relief came shortly after the answer was exposed, proving the team was correct and their points could be earned, pushing them even further into the lead. Melva uses relevant, exciting tools, like Jeopardy, to get her students excited about learning as she assesses their progress towards mastering the standards. It was a pleasure to visit with her and her students for a short while and be exposed to the power relationship building and high expectations have in the classroom.
